Casoron 4G Herbicide is a professional granular herbicide containing 4% dichlobenil for control of labeled annual and perennial weeds in established woody ornamentals, nurseries, fruit and nut plantings, cranberry production, rhubarb, selected forestry plantings, and outdoor non-crop areas. Its granular formulation is applied directly to the soil surface or incorporated according to the specific use pattern.

Casoron 4G is classified as a Group 20 herbicide and provides soil-applied weed management against a broad spectrum of grasses and broadleaf weeds. Applications are generally timed before annual weed germination or during labeled late-fall and early-spring periods for perennial weeds, making Casoron useful for long-term vegetation management around established perennial plantings and non-crop sites.

Labeled Use Sites

Casoron 4G is labeled for established woody ornamentals and shelterbelts, nursery stock, apple, cherry, grape, pear, filbert, bushberries, selected caneberries, dormant rhubarb, cranberries, and specified hybrid cottonwood and poplar plantations and stoolbeds. Outdoor non-crop uses include areas around buildings and structures, fences, industrial areas, recreational areas, and beneath containerized nursery stock. Crop-, plant-, geographic-, and establishment-specific restrictions apply.

Target Weeds

Casoron 4G controls labeled weeds including annual bluegrass, bluegrass, crabgrass, foxtail, chickweed, dandelion, henbit, horsetail, knotweed, lambsquarters, plantain, purslane, ragweed, redroot pigweed, Russian thistle, smartweed, spurge, Texas panicum, wild barley, wild mustard, wild radish, yellow woodsorrel, Canada thistle, curly dock, leafy spurge, orchardgrass, quackgrass, Russian knapweed, smooth brome, timothy, wild carrot, yellow rocket, and other listed annual and perennial weeds. Nutsedge is labeled for control in specified non-crop applications. Additional weeds are labeled in cranberry production.

Application Notes

For annual weed control, apply Casoron 4G in early spring before weed seed germination or after cultivation has removed existing weeds. For many annual weed uses, rates range from 100 to 150 lb per acre. Perennial weed programs generally use 150 to 200 lb per acre, depending on the use site. If followed by 1/2 to 1 inch of overhead irrigation, the lower specified annual-weed rates may be used. Nutsedge control in non-crop areas requires immediate incorporation to a depth of 4 to 6 inches.

Do not apply by backpack equipment. Do not enter treated areas until granules have been thoroughly watered in and the treated soil has dried. Do not use in seedbeds, transplant beds, cutting beds, or greenhouses. Woody ornamental establishment restrictions, crop-specific maximum rates, soil restrictions, and special geographic limitations apply. Always read and follow the current product label.
