Slime mold can coat grass blades with gray, white, yellow, or dark spore masses during humid, wet weather. It feeds on decaying organic matter rather than turfgrass and is usually a temporary cosmetic problem.
Start with Physical Removal
Light infestations can often be removed with a broom, mower, or strong stream of water. Improve airflow and drainage, and avoid irrigation practices that keep the canopy wet for long periods.
When Treatment May Help
For persistent or high-visibility sites, choose a product labeled for slime mold on turf. Compare application timing, coverage, and retreatment intervals, and always follow the complete product label.
