Wild Violet Control for Turf

How to Identify Wild Violet

Heart-shaped leaves arise from a basal crown and may have purple, blue, white, or yellow flowers. Waxy foliage sheds spray droplets and thick underground structures support regrowth.

Why It Appears in Turf

Shade, moist soil, thin turf, and seed movement by ants favor colonies. Mowing does not remove the crown or rhizomes.

Make the Site Less Favorable

• Maintain the recommended mowing height and avoid scalping.
• Correct irrigation, drainage, compaction, fertility, or shade problems that thin desirable turf.
• Repair bare areas and use adapted turf cultivars to close openings where seedlings establish.
