Dismiss South Herbicide is a professional selective postemergence herbicide containing 33.33% sulfentrazone and 6.67% imazethapyr for control or suppression of sedges, broadleaf weeds, and certain annual grasses in established warm-season turf. It is labeled for residential, commercial, and institutional lawns, athletic fields, and golf course fairways and roughs, with particular value for purple nutsedge, yellow nutsedge, and green kyllinga management.

Dismiss South combines HRAC Group 14 PPO-inhibiting chemistry with HRAC Group 2 ALS-inhibiting chemistry and is absorbed through both weed roots and shoots. This dual-active premix provides foliar activity together with soil activity, making it especially useful in professional nutsedge programs where reducing regrowth and extending control are priorities.

Labeled Use Sites

Dismiss South is labeled for established warm-season turfgrass in residential, commercial, and institutional lawns, athletic fields, golf course fairways, and golf course roughs. Tolerant turfgrasses listed on the label include bahiagrass, bermudagrass and hybrids, buffalograss, centipedegrass, kikuyugrass, and zoysiagrass. Do not apply to golf course putting greens or tees. The current label excludes use on St. Augustinegrass and seashore paspalum. Dismiss South is also labeled for certain railroad, highway, roadside, pipeline and utility rights-of-way, industrial areas, fence rows, and other non-crop sites.

Target Weeds

Dismiss South controls or suppresses labeled sedges including purple nutsedge, yellow nutsedge, green kyllinga, false green kyllinga, globe sedge, cylindric sedge, Surinam sedge, and Texas sedge. It also controls or suppresses numerous broadleaf weeds including dandelion, dollarweed, clover, chickweed, ground ivy, henbit, spurge, plantain, woodsorrel, wild onion, wild garlic, and others, as well as labeled grassy weeds including goosegrass, with suppression of dallisgrass and tropical signalgrass where specified on the label.

Application Notes

For established turf, apply 4 to 14.4 fl oz per acre, equivalent to 0.092 to 0.331 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft, without exceeding the turfgrass-specific rate shown on the label. For optimum purple nutsedge control, split applications may be required. Warm-season turf options include 9.5 fl oz per acre followed by 4.9 fl oz per acre 35 days later, or 7.2 fl oz per acre followed by 7.2 fl oz per acre 35 days later. Good spray coverage is essential for optimum sedge and grassy weed control.

Do not apply to putting greens or tees, stressed turf, or turf species not listed on the label. Reseeding, overseeding, or sprigging within one month after application may inhibit turf establishment. Surfactants can increase the risk of temporary turf discoloration and should not be used unless previous experience has demonstrated the combination to be physically compatible and non-injurious to the turfgrass being treated. Do not apply through irrigation systems. Always read and follow the complete product label.
