Engulf GHN is a professional greenhouse and ornamental miticide containing 43.2% bifenazate for rapid knockdown and long-lasting control of economically important mite pests. Its concentrated IRAC Group 20D formulation delivers effective mite management at low use rates while reducing the amount of product growers need to measure, mix, store, and handle.

Designed for greenhouse and shadehouse ornamentals, greenhouse-grown tomatoes, Christmas trees, and conifer production, Engulf GHN controls 18 labeled mite species and can provide residual activity for up to 28 days. Its selective activity also makes it well suited for integrated pest-management programs that incorporate predatory mites and other beneficial insects.

Labeled Use Sites

Engulf GHN is labeled for ornamental plants grown in greenhouses and shadehouses, including ornamental bulb crops, bedding plants, foliage plants, flowering plants, perennials, shrubs, and trees grown in the ground or in containers. It is also labeled for greenhouse-grown tomatoes and for Christmas trees, conifer plantations, and conifer nurseries.

Target Pests

Engulf GHN controls avocado red spider mite, bamboo spider mite, Banks grass mite, brown almond mite, citrus red mite, clover mite, European red mite, Lewis mite, McDaniel spider mite, Pacific spider mite, pecan leaf scorch mite, Persea mite, six-spotted mite, southern red mite, spruce spider mite, strawberry spider mite, two-spotted spider mite, and Willamette mite. European red mite requires the maximum labeled rate for the crop.

Engulf GHN is not effective against rust mites, broad mites, or flat mites. The product is most effective against motile mite stages and also provides ovicidal activity against Tetranychus spider mites.

Application Notes

For greenhouse and shadehouse ornamentals, mix 2 to 4 fl oz of Engulf GHN per 100 gallons of water and apply 1 to 4 quarts of finished spray per 100 sq ft, equivalent to approximately 100 to 400 gallons per acre depending on plant size. Use the lower rate for light mite pressure or preventive applications and the higher rate for severe pressure or longer residual control.

Thorough coverage of both upper and lower leaf surfaces is essential because Engulf GHN is not systemic. Hard-to-wet foliage may benefit from a compatible adjuvant; the label specifically identifies Silwet 77 or Sylgard 309 at 4 fl oz per 100 gallons as effective examples. Do not use adjuvants in greenhouse-tomato tank mixtures. Do not apply more than two times per calendar year or exceed 16 fl oz per acre per calendar year on ornamental uses.
