Flumishield SC Herbicide

Flumishield SC Herbicide is a professional pre- and post-emergent herbicide powered by 42% flumioxazin for long-lasting residual control of selected grassy and broadleaf weeds. As a Group 14 PPO inhibitor, Flumishield SC provides fast contact activity on emerged broadleaf weeds while also preventing new weeds from germinating in labeled sites.

Flumishield SC is labeled for dormant bermudagrass, established woody ornamentals, container and field-grown conifers and deciduous trees, Christmas trees, bare ground non-crop areas, and selected aquatic weed-control uses. It can be tank mixed with products such as glyphosate or glufosinate where labeled to provide quick knockdown plus residual control in maintained areas such as tree wells, fence rows, gravel surfaces, driveways, ground mats, and pads. Flumishield SC is comparable to SureGuard SC.

Features & Benefits

Broad-spectrum pre- and post-emergent weed control in labeled turf, ornamental, bare ground, and aquatic sites

Contains 42% flumioxazin, a Group 14 PPO inhibitor that disrupts chlorophyll production and damages plant cell membranes

Provides long residual preemergence control in landscape beds, gravel areas, bare ground, and other maintained non-crop sites

Delivers fast contact activity on small, actively growing broadleaf weeds for quicker visible results

Can be tank mixed with glyphosate or glufosinate where labeled for knockdown plus residual weed-control programs

Provides pre- and early post-emergent control of Poa annua and winter annual broadleaf weeds on dormant bermudagrass

Adds a different mode of action to help reduce resistance pressure from repeated use of the same herbicide chemistries

Labeled Use Sites

Flumishield SC is labeled for use in bare ground non-crop areas, dormant bermudagrass on residential sites, golf courses, sod farms, and similar areas, around established woody ornamentals in landscapes, container and field-grown conifers and deciduous trees, Christmas trees, non-bearing fruit and nut trees, conifer and poplar reforestation sites where allowed, and selected slow-moving or quiescent aquatic sites. Non-crop use sites include areas around buildings, fence rows, gravel surfaces, driveways, ground mats and pads, parking areas, storage areas, plant sites, roadsides, railroads, and similar maintained areas.

Target Weeds

Flumishield SC controls selected grasses and broadleaf weeds including annual bluegrass, barnyardgrass, bittercress, bluegrass, chickweed, crabgrass, dandelion, doveweed, eclipta, field pennycress, Florida beggarweed, Florida pusley, foxtail, goosegrass, groundsel, horseweed, kochia, lambsquarters, liverwort, mallow, morningglory, nightshade, Palmer amaranth, panicum, pigweed, pineappleweed, plantain, prickly sida, puncturevine, purslane, ragweed, redmaids, Russian thistle, shepherd’s-purse, spiny amaranth, spurge, velvetleaf, waterhemp, woodsorrel, yellow rocket, and other listed weeds. Some weeds are labeled for preemergence control only.

For aquatic applications, Flumishield SC is labeled for control of selected floating, emerged, and submersed weeds and algae including alligator weed, duckweed, frog’s-bit, mosquito fern, water fern, water lettuce, watermeal, water pennywort, filamentous algae, coontail, fanwort, hydrilla, hygrophila, southern naiad, curlyleaf pondweed, sago pondweed, variable-leaf pondweed, Eurasian watermilfoil, and variable-leaf watermilfoil.

Application Notes

Apply Flumishield SC according to the label directions for the specific site and use pattern. For preemergence applications, apply before weed emergence to a weed-free soil surface. Moisture is needed to activate residual control and move the herbicide into the soil. For postemergence applications, apply to small, actively growing weeds for best results; the label states that weeds less than 2 inches tall are controlled most effectively.

For terrestrial postemergence applications, the label requires a nonionic surfactant containing at least 80% active ingredient. Thorough coverage is necessary because Flumishield SC has limited translocation within the weed. When tank mixing, follow the most restrictive label directions for all products in the spray mixture and perform a jar test when needed.
