Milestone Herbicide

Milestone Herbicide is a professional systemic herbicide containing aminopyralid for selective control of invasive, noxious, annual, biennial, and perennial broadleaf weeds, selected woody plants, vines, and certain annual grasses. Its Group 4 synthetic auxin chemistry moves throughout susceptible plants, including into root systems, while providing both postemergence activity and residual soil control of susceptible emerging seedlings and regrowth.

Designed for Range & Pasture, Conservation Reserve Program acres, natural areas, wildlife habitat, rights-of-way, and industrial vegetation management, Milestone delivers long-term weed control at exceptionally low use rates while remaining selective to many established desirable grasses. Milestone was reviewed and registered through the U.S. EPA Reduced Risk Pesticide Initiative and is widely used for invasive-species management, prairie restoration, pasture improvement, and habitat-management programs.

Features & Benefits

✓ Contains aminopyralid with systemic Group 4 synthetic auxin activity against difficult invasive and noxious broadleaf weeds

✓ Provides both postemergence control and residual soil activity against susceptible emerging seedlings and perennial regrowth

✓ Controls major thistles, knapweeds, invasive knotweeds, tropical soda apple, purple loosestrife, kudzu, tree-of-heaven, and other labeled weeds and woody plants

✓ Selective to many established perennial grasses when used according to label directions

✓ EPA Reduced Risk pesticide with very low broadcast use rates of up to 7 fl oz per acre per year

✓ Flexible broadcast, spot, aerial, foliar, basal bark, cut-stump, tree-injection, hack-and-squirt, and other woody-plant treatment options

✓ No grazing interval following labeled applications; grass hay may also be harvested, subject to important Milestone hay, manure, compost, and animal-transfer restrictions

Labeled Use Sites

Milestone is labeled for rangeland, permanent grass pastures, grasses grown for hay, Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres, natural areas, prairie-management sites, wildlife openings, wildlife habitat and management areas, campgrounds, parks, recreation areas, trailheads, trails, seasonally dry flood plains, deltas, marshes, prairie potholes, vernal pools, and grazed areas in and around these sites.

Non-crop uses include airports, barrow ditches, communication and electrical transmission lines, utility rights-of-way, fence rows, gravel pits, industrial sites, military sites, mining and drilling areas, oil and gas pads, non-irrigation ditch banks, parking lots, petroleum tank farms, pipelines, roadsides, railroads, storage areas, dry stormwater retention areas, substations, and unimproved rough turf. Milestone is not labeled for lawns, golf courses, athletic fields, commercial sod operations, ornamental plantings, or other high-maintenance fine turf. Terrestrial vegetation may be treated up to the water's edge, but Milestone must not be applied directly to water or vegetation standing in water.

Application Notes

Milestone may be broadcast by ground or aerial equipment or used as a calibrated spot treatment. Labeled broadcast weed-control rates generally range from approximately 3 to 7 fl oz per acre depending on species and growth stage. Do not apply more than a total of 7 fl oz per acre per year from broadcast, repeat, and spot applications. Spot treatments may use an equivalent broadcast rate up to 14 fl oz per acre provided no more than 50% of an acre is treated at that rate.

For optimum uptake and translocation, treat actively growing weeds and avoid mowing, haying, shredding, burning, or disturbing treated vegetation for at least 14 days after application. A high-quality nonionic surfactant containing at least 80% active ingredient may be used at 0.25% to 0.5% v/v when weeds are mature, heavily pubescent, dusty, or under adverse environmental conditions. Low-volume woody-plant treatments should include a suitable adjuvant for best results. Milestone also supports low-volume basal bark, stem-bark band, cut-stump, tree-injector, hack-and-squirt, and frill or girdle treatments according to the specific woody-plant directions.
