Pace SG Herbicide

Pace Herbicide is a professional selective postemergence herbicide containing 17.6% bispyribac-sodium for control of annual bluegrass (Poa annua), roughstalk bluegrass (Poa trivialis), yellow nutsedge, and selected broadleaf weeds in labeled established turfgrass. Its Group 2 ALS-inhibiting chemistry gradually removes susceptible Poa while allowing desirable creeping bentgrass, tall fescue, and established perennial ryegrass to fill treated areas.

A generic equivalent to Velocity SG Herbicide, Pace is especially valuable for golf course and sod-production Poa management programs. Multiple application programs can gradually transition Poa-infested creeping bentgrass toward a more uniform bentgrass stand while also suppressing annual bluegrass seedhead production. Pace additionally provides several weeks of dollar spot suppression when used as part of a weed-control program initiated before significant disease development.

Labeled Use Sites

Pace is labeled for selective postemergence weed control in established creeping bentgrass, tall fescue, and permanently established perennial ryegrass on golf course fairways and tees, sod farms, athletic fields, and commercial or residential turf. Specialized programs are also labeled for dormant common and hybrid bermudagrass on golf course fairways and tees and sod farms, including certain dormant bermudagrass stands overseeded with perennial ryegrass.

Pace must not be applied to golf course greens. It must not be applied to creeping bentgrass maintained below 3/8 inch, and specialized dormant bermudagrass programs have additional mowing-height, temperature, dormancy, and ryegrass-establishment restrictions. Kentucky bluegrass and other susceptible turf species may be severely injured, so applications should be limited to turf species and programs specifically supported by the label.

Target Weeds

Grassy Weeds: annual bluegrass (Poa annua) and roughstalk bluegrass (Poa trivialis).

Broadleaf Weeds: common chickweed, sticky chickweed, large hop clover, white clover, dandelion, henbit, lawn burweed, parsley-piert, broadleaf plantain, buckhorn plantain, swinecress, and yellow woodsorrel.

Sedges: yellow nutsedge at the seedling stage.

Additional Performance: Pace suppresses annual bluegrass seedhead production and provides suppression of dollar spot. Dollar spot is a suppression claim only; Pace is not a replacement for a labeled fungicide where curative dollar spot control or a high level of disease control is required.

Application Notes

Pace application rates range from 1 to 6 oz per acre depending on turf species, target weed, infestation level, desired speed of conversion, and treatment program. Multiple applications are typically required for maximum annual bluegrass control. In creeping bentgrass, rapid-conversion programs may use two applications at 6 oz per acre on a 10- to 14-day interval or multiple lower-rate applications. Slow-conversion programs generally use repeated 1- to 2-oz-per-acre treatments during active turf and Poa growth.

Apply Pace with properly calibrated ground equipment using at least 20 gallons of spray solution per acre at 20 to 50 psi. Do not use handheld sprayers or flood-jet nozzles. Do not apply if rain is expected within 4 hours, and do not mow or irrigate within 4 hours after application. Do not add wetting agents, spreader-stickers, surfactants, or other adjuvants. Maximum use is 6 oz per acre per application, 12 oz per acre in any 28-day period, and 24 oz per acre per year.
