Princep Liquid Herbicide
Princep Liquid Herbicide is a professional soil-applied herbicide containing 41.9% simazine for preemergence control of a broad spectrum of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds. It is labeled for selected warm-season turfgrass, sod production, nurseries, Christmas tree plantings, shelterbelts, and other specifically labeled uses.
Princep Liquid works primarily through root uptake and should be applied before weeds emerge or after existing weed growth has been removed. Moisture is needed to move simazine into the root zone, making proper application timing and soil conditions important for dependable preemergence performance.

Labeled Use Sites
Princep Liquid is labeled for selected nurseries, Christmas tree plantings, shelterbelts, turfgrass grown for sod, and warm-season turfgrass on fairways, lawns, and similar areas. Labeled turf species include bermudagrass, centipedegrass, St. Augustinegrass, and zoysiagrass. Turf use is subject to important geographic, soil-pH, establishment, overseeding, and annual-rate restrictions. Do not use on cool-season turf or golf greens.
Target Weeds
Princep Liquid controls labeled annual weeds including annual bluegrass, annual ryegrass, barnyardgrass, crabgrass, downy brome, fall panicum, foxtails, goosegrass, junglerice, signalgrass, witchgrass, common chickweed, groundsel, henbit, lambsquarters, nightshade, pigweed, common purslane, ragweed, Russian thistle, smartweed, speedwell, wild mustard, wild oats, and many other annual broadleaf and grassy weeds. Turf-specific fall programs also control weeds such as burclover, lawn burweed, mouseear chickweed, corn speedwell, hop clover, spurweed, and parsley-piert.
Application Notes
Apply Princep Liquid before weeds emerge or after existing weed growth has been removed. Because simazine enters susceptible weeds mainly through the roots, adequate soil moisture is necessary to move the herbicide into the root zone. If rainfall does not occur after a turf preemergence application, irrigate with approximately 1/2 inch of water within 10 days where directed by the label.
For warm-season fairways, lawns, and similar turf areas, use 1 qt per acre where annual bluegrass is the primary target and 1 to 2 qt per acre for other labeled weeds. A second 1 qt per acre application may be made at least 30 days later for summer annuals where permitted, but no more than two applications may be made per calendar year. Do not exceed 3 qt per acre per calendar year for this turf use pattern.
Do not use north of North Carolina except in the Virginia Coastal Plain, on soils with pH above 7.8, or on muck or alkaline soils in the fairway/lawn use pattern. Do not seed or overseed desirable turf within 4 months before or 6 months after treatment. Do not use on golf greens or cool-season turf.
