Spine Miticide

Spine Miticide is a professional Group 23 insecticide/miticide powered by spirodiclofen for long-lasting control of labeled mite pests in citrus, grapes, hops, pome fruit, stone fruit, tree nuts, tropical fruit, and Christmas tree plantations. As a suspension concentrate formulation, Spine works by contact on mite eggs, nymphal stages, and adult females to help reduce developing mite populations before damage becomes severe.

Spine is best used as a preventive application or timed at early threshold levels when mite populations are beginning to develop. It provides strong initial and residual mite control and fits well in resistance-management and IPM programs when rotated with effective products from different mode-of-action groups. Spine is the generic equivalent of Envidor 2SC.

Spine is labeled for use on avocado, black sapote, canistel, citrus, grapes, hops, mango, mamey sapote, papaya, pome fruit, sapodilla, star apple, stone fruit, tree nuts, and Christmas tree plantations. Labeled crop groups include citrus fruit, American bunch grape, muscadine grape, vinifera grape, pome fruit, stone fruit, and tree nuts.

Target Pests

Spine is labeled for control of many mite pests, including avocado brown mite, avocado red mite, broad mite, carmine spider mite, citrus flat mite, citrus red mite, citrus rust mite, European red mite, grape erineum mite, hemlock rust mite, McDaniel spider mite, mango spider mite, Pacific spider mite, papaya leaf edgeroller mite, peach silver mite, pear rust mite, pecan leaf scorch mite, Persea mite, pink citrus rust mite, six-spotted mite, spruce spider mite, Texas citrus mite, two-spotted spider mite, Willamette spider mite, and Yuma spider mite. Spine is also labeled for suppression of San Jose scale in tree nuts.

Application Notes

Apply Spine according to the crop-specific directions on the product label. Applications should be made at the early threshold for the target mite pest or early in the infestation as mite populations begin to develop. Preventive applications are permitted where needed for specific mite problems, but typically require the higher labeled rate for optimal residual control.

Thorough and uniform coverage of target plant parts is required for best performance. Use higher labeled rates under moderate to heavy mite pressure or when longer residual control is desired. Spine must be applied through properly calibrated ground application equipment except where aerial application is specifically allowed by the crop section. Do not evaluate performance sooner than 7 days after application.
