Surge Broadleaf Herbicide For Turf is a professional four-active postemergence herbicide formulated for fast, selective control of difficult broadleaf weeds in established cool- and warm-season turfgrass. Combining 2,4-D, mecoprop-p, dicamba, and sulfentrazone, Surge controls or suppresses troublesome weeds including dandelion, spurge, clover, plantain, knotweed, oxalis, dollarweed, ground ivy, poison ivy, poison oak, Virginia buttonweed, and many other labeled broadleaf weeds.

Surge combines proven three-way broadleaf chemistry with fast-acting sulfentrazone to provide rapid visible weed response and expanded control compared with standard three-way amine programs. Weed injury may become visible within hours after application, with plant death developing in approximately 10 to 14 days under favorable growing conditions. Its broad turf tolerance and six-hour rainfastness make Surge an excellent fit for professional lawn care, sports turf, golf, sod production, institutional turf, and other labeled vegetation-management programs.

Labeled Use Sites

Surge is labeled for selective broadleaf weed control in institutional turf around hospitals, nursing homes, schools, museums, libraries, sports facilities, golf course fairways, aprons and roughs, and office buildings; ornamental turf around residences, parks, streets, retail outlets, cemeteries, industrial and institutional properties, recreation areas, fairgrounds, athletic-field surroundings, and paved areas; residential and domestic turf including apartment complexes and condominiums; commercial sod production; and noncropland areas including roadsides, rights-of-way, airports, military installations, fuel-storage areas, fence rows, industrial sites, utility rights-of-way, and pipeline rights-of-way.

Target Weeds

Surge controls or suppresses labeled broadleaf weeds including dandelion, white clover, black medic, broadleaf and buckhorn plantain, spurge, dollarweed, oxalis, ground ivy, knotweed, chickweed, henbit, bindweed, Florida betony, Florida pusley, lambsquarters, lespedeza, ragweed, pigweed, poison ivy, poison oak, purslane, thistle, Virginia buttonweed, wild garlic, wild onion, wild mustard, yarrow, yellow rocket, and many other susceptible broadleaf weeds. Yellow nutsedge is labeled for suppression only when young and actively growing.

Application Notes

For cool-season turf including Kentucky bluegrass, annual bluegrass, annual and perennial ryegrass, tall fescue, red or fine fescues, creeping bentgrass, and colonial bentgrass where permitted, apply 3.25 to 4 pt per acre, equivalent to approximately 1.2 to 1.5 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft. Do not use on bentgrass golf greens or tees.

For warm-season turf including common and hybrid bermudagrass, centipedegrass, zoysiagrass, bahiagrass, and buffalograss, apply 2.75 to 3.25 pt per acre, equivalent to approximately 1.0 to 1.2 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft. Do not use on St. Augustinegrass. Avoid applications to warm-season turf during spring green-up or fall transition between active growth and dormancy.

Apply to young, actively growing weeds for best results. Surge is generally rainfast in as little as 6 hours. If possible, do not irrigate for 6 to 24 hours after application. Delay mowing for two days before and two days after treatment. Treated areas may be reseeded three weeks after application. Do not broadcast apply when air temperatures exceed 90°F. Always read and follow the complete product label.
