Turflon Ester Ultra is a professional selective postemergence herbicide containing triclopyr ester for control of actively growing annual and perennial broadleaf weeds and kikuyugrass in perennial bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, and tall fescue ornamental turf. It is well suited for professional lawn, golf-course, and sod-management programs where difficult broadleaf weeds or unwanted grassy encroachment require targeted control.

Turflon Ester Ultra also provides specialized Bermudagrass suppression programs, including repeated applications for transition toward desirable cool-season turf and labeled overseeding programs with perennial ryegrass in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. Its low-volatility ester formulation delivers strong postemergence activity when weeds and target grasses are actively growing.

Labeled Use Sites

Turflon Ester Ultra is labeled for ornamental turf containing perennial bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, or tall fescue, including golf courses and sod farms where permitted. Arizona has not approved the sod-farm use. The label also contains specialized Bermudagrass growth-suppression directions associated with perennial ryegrass overseeding in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. Do not apply to golf-course putting greens.

Target Weeds

Labeled targets include black medic, bull thistle, burdock, Canada thistle, chicory, clover, creeping beggarweed, curly dock, dandelion, field bindweed, goldenrod, ground ivy, kikuyugrass, lambsquarters, lespedeza, matchweed, mustard, oxalis, plantain, ragweed, smartweed, sweet clover, vetch, wild carrot or Queen Anne's lace, wild lettuce, wild violet, and yarrow. Bermudagrass is labeled for suppression and transition-management programs rather than routine broadleaf control.

Application Notes

For broadcast treatment of ornamental turf, apply 1/2 to 1 quart per acre during warm weather from early spring through fall when weeds are actively growing. For spot treatments, use 3/8 to 3/4 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft in enough water to provide uniform coverage. Use the higher labeled rates on mature, difficult-to-control weeds or where conditions reduce activity.

For kikuyugrass control, apply 1/2 to 1 quart per acre; three to four additional applications at 4- to 6-week intervals may be required. For Bermudagrass suppression, apply 1 quart per acre and repeat three to four times at approximately 4-week intervals as directed. Do not water for 24 hours after application and do not reseed for 3 weeks, except where the specific perennial-ryegrass overseeding directions apply.
