Curative Turf Fungicides

Curative turf fungicides are used after infection has begun, usually at the earliest visible symptoms. They can stop or slow active disease, but they cannot restore dead leaves, crowns, or roots. Recovery still depends on surviving growing points and favorable growing conditions.

Choose the Right Product

Confirm the diagnosis before treating. Look for a label that includes the disease, turf species, and site, then compare active ingredient, FRAC group, rate range, interval, and placement. Curative activity varies widely among pathogens and products; a systemic product is not automatically curative for every disease.

Build a Better Program

Treat early, correct the condition that triggered the outbreak, and judge success by stopped spread and healthy new growth rather than immediate greening of damaged tissue. Follow-up applications must stay within label limits and should rotate effective modes of action.

What University Guidance Says

NC State notes that curative applications can work but are often less dependable and may require higher rates or shorter intervals than preventive programs. Severe root and crown diseases may not recover even when the pathogen is suppressed.
