Localized yellowing and wilting can expand into thin brown patches. Small C-shaped grubs occur in the upper root zone, often in very high numbers; adults are tiny shiny black beetles that may be noticed on pavement or equipment.

Why Damage Develops

Adults overwinter in protected sites and lay eggs in spring. Thatch, organic matter, low mowing, and repeated generations can concentrate larvae in stressed turf.
